Imphal, March 28: MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh attended the inaugural programme of the Farmer–Scientist Interaction cum Input Distribution Programme at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre on Saturday.
The programme, organised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research under the NEH Component, brought together scientists and farmers to promote knowledge exchange and improve agricultural practices.
Speaking as Chief Guest, T. Robindro Singh highlighted the importance of linking scientific knowledge with grassroots farming, stating that such initiatives are essential for strengthening the agricultural sector. He noted that farmers remain the backbone of Manipur’s economy and play a crucial role in ensuring food security.
He also emphasised the role of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in supporting farmers through modern techniques and practical solutions. The MLA further encouraged youth to take interest in agriculture and contribute to building a self-reliant and progressive Manipur.
The programme also included distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers and was attended by senior scientists and officials, including Dr. Jogendra Singh, Dr. Satish Kumar, and Dr. S. Basanta Singh.
