A white Maruti Van (AS01AT7458) caught fire while running along NH-2 in front of LMS Law College, Imphal East, at around 1:28 PM today, resulting in the near-total destruction of the vehicle.
The van, owned and driven by H. Ingoba Singh, was already engulfed in flames when fire services were finally contacted.
By the time help arrived, the vehicle was almost completely burnt down, leaving behind a charred shell.
Manipur Fire Service responded swiftly with their Motorcycle Water Mist System and Bolero AFT unit, successfully dousing the flames and preventing the fire from spreading further in the high-traffic zone.
No injuries were reported in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
