March 17, 2026 (IMP): The Film Forum Manipur, the apex body of 12 different associations/guilds working in the state film industry, has announced that it will not support the upcoming 3rd North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) 2026, scheduled to be held from 21st to 22nd March.
The 3rd North East India Film Festival (NEIFF) 2026 is organized by THOUNA Manipur in collaboration with the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Government of Manipur, and the All Manipur Film Producer Association, with sponsorship from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
According to the General Secretary of Film Forum Manipur, Kangjam Ronelchandra Meitei, THOUNA Manipur had previously collaborated with Film Forum Manipur to organize the 1st and 2nd editions of NEIFF in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
However, THOUNA Manipur has not provided any prior information to Film Forum Manipur and has taken a stance that reflects a lack of understanding of the collaborative spirit and willingness to involve Film Forum Manipur in the festival’s organization. The Forum has therefore decided not to support the 3rd NEIFF 2026.
