Kakching, 7th September:
A massive fire broke out at the Imoinu Market Mini Shopping Mall located at Hiyanglam Wabagai Lamkhai Keithel under Kakching Police Station on Sunday at around 6:30 pm.
According to reports, the mall that caught fire belongs to Naorem Ongbi Kanan Devi (38), wife of Naorem Jiten (46) of Wabagai Makha Leikai, presently residing at Kakching Wairi Senapati Leikai.
It is said that Kanan kept grocery items in her shop. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown. The total estimated damage is yet to be ascertained.
On receiving information, fire tenders from Kakching Fire Service along with water tankers rushed to the site. Locals also joined in the effort to control the fire. Later, fire service personnel from Mayang Imphal also arrived and assisted in extinguishing the blaze.
Inspector Pheiroijam Priyobarta, OC Kakching Police Station, Hiyanglam Police team, and Kakching District Police Commandos also joined in dousing the fire.
After nearly two hours of combined effort, the fire was finally brought under control.
