As part of the observance of National Fire Service Week 2025, the Manipur Fire Service has been actively conducting a series of fire safety awareness programmes and mock drills across various key locations to highlight the importance of fire prevention and preparedness. In a bid to sensitize the public and institutional staff about fire hazards and emergency response mechanisms, a special initiative was undertaken. The department carried out fire safety demonstrations and mock evacuation drills at multiple establishments, including educational institutions, hospitals, and hotels.
On this day, fire safety drills were conducted at RIMS Hospital in Lamphel, Unacco College in Khongman, Classic Grande Hotel in Chingmeirong, and Angel Hospital in Uripok. Staff from the Manipur Fire Service led the awareness sessions and drills, demonstrating techniques for firefighting, emergency evacuation, and the proper use of fire extinguishing equipment.
The initiative aimed to ensure that both the staff and the public are well-equipped with knowledge and skills to respond effectively during fire emergencies. The programme is part of a broader effort during the Fire Service Week to instill a culture of safety and resilience in the face of fire-related incidents.
With the theme focusing on raising awareness, the department emphasized the critical role of preparedness in minimizing casualties and damage during such disasters. Officials from the Manipur Fire Service highlighted that these drills are not only educational but also serve to evaluate the readiness of institutions in managing fire-related situations. Participants were encouraged to actively engage in the sessions and ask questions, making the programme both interactive and impactful.
