Fire-Walking Festival in Moreh Concludes, Showcases Cultural Unity and Devotion

April 1, 2026 : The 59th Fire-Walking Festival in Moreh, Tengnoupal district, concluded today at the Shree Angala Parmeshwari Shree Muneeshwarar Temple, marking the culmination of a vibrant celebration of faith, courage, and cultural harmony.

A release issued by the Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) stated that the Assam Rifles extended support to ensure the successful conduct of the festival, which was organised by the Tamil Sangam from March 23 to April 1. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from diverse communities, including Tamil, Meetei, Nepali, and Bihari, along with devotees from neighbouring Myanmar, turning the temple into a vibrant hub of cultural and social harmony.

The age-old fire-walking ritual, symbolising devotion and resilience, remained the central highlight, drawing large numbers of devotees and visitors. Community participation was further strengthened through shared feasts and collective involvement across localities, reinforcing bonds among different groups in the border town.

Arrangements were put in place to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event, with volunteers and organisers working together to facilitate rituals and manage the large gatherings. A langar service was also organised, serving meals to hundreds of devotees daily.

Local leaders and residents expressed appreciation for the coordinated efforts that contributed to the festival’s successful conclusion, noting that such events play a crucial role in fostering unity and preserving longstanding cultural traditions in the region.
