In a major step towards sustainable waste management, the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) today launched the “KMC D2D Waste Collection” mobile app, the first of its kind in Manipur for door-to-door waste collection.
The launch event was held at the Conference Hall of Kakching Municipal Council at Kakching Phousupat Leikai and was attended by Naorem Sanjitkumar, Caretaker Chairperson of KMC, L. Romesh, Senior Chief Executive Officer, and Naorem Ramchandra, Executive Engineer.
Speaking at the event, Caretaker Chairperson Naorem Sanjitkumar said the mobile app will significantly benefit households in the Kakching area by streamlining the waste collection process.
Senior CEO L. Romesh highlighted that consumers will be able to pay fees for the waste collection service at their convenience through the app. He also noted that the app will help build a comprehensive household database, with initial registrations to be handled by the fee collectors.
Technical experts from Globizs Web Solutions Private Limited, the developers of the app, presented a detailed demonstration on its usage, consumer options, and the roles of the official staff.
The programme was attended by Caretaker Councillors, staff members, door-to-door waste collection sanitary workers, and fee collectors of the KMC.
