Imphal: Feb 2 In a crackdown on extortion and militant activities, security forces arrested five individuals linked to Arambai Tengol, NRFM, and KCP (Taibanganba) in separate operations across Manipur.
Three members of Arambai Tengol were arrested at Keithelmanbi under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West for collecting money from transporters along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway. Seized from them were a thermal printer, wireless sets, Aadhaar cards, notebooks, wallets, ₹1,600 in cash, and a four-wheeler.
Security forces also apprehended Meltram Somorjit Singh, an active member of NRFM, from Khumbong Bazar. He was found with a loaded .32 pistol, five mobile phones, a PAN card, a voter card, a driving license, and ₹8,000 in cash.
In another operation, Leisangthem Rajesh Singh, an active cadre of KCP (Taibanganba), was arrested from Langmeidong Mamang Awang Leikai. According to the Manipur Police Control Room, he was allegedly involved in extortion, recruitment, and kidnappings across multiple districts.
Security forces recovered three mobile phones, ID cards, and ₹2,240 in cash.
