Two books—Flicker, a collection of English poems by Manipuri poets, and Saraswati Turel gi Wari, a Meiteilon translation—were formally released on Sunday at the Tentha Khunjai Mayai Leikai residence of late poet Moirangthem Rajendra in Thoubal district.
Organised by SEAWAVES Manipur, the event brought together several noted literary figures. Flicker, selected and compiled by SEAWAVES Manipur and published by Yaibiren Communications Imphal, was dedicated to Rajendra. The second release, Saraswati Turel gi Wari, is Rajendra’s translation of The Tales of the Saraswati River by Janki Narayan Shree Mali.
The organisation noted that Flicker is its 11th publication and part of its ongoing effort to promote Manipuri literature through English translations. Its first publication was Beyond, with M. Priyobarta serving as editor for the series.
The launch concluded with a poetry reading session featuring local writers and poets.
