In connection with the death of mentally challenged Chesam Abdul Kadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai, who was recovered dead today after going missing on the 10th of June, the Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur, has called for swift justice delivery in accordance with the law and asked the State Home Department to initiate appropriate action to arrest all the culprits involved in the incident and punish them according to the law.
The FOCS, in a press statement issued to the press, also expressed grief at the loss and shared the pain of the bereaved family. It also said the state government should compensate the loss to the family. The CSO further stated that the state machinery should not take the incident lightly, and only the swift delivery of justice is the means to make people more reliant on the law.
The FOCS also said that during these crucial times, this unfortunate incident should not be dragged towards communal lines by leaders, which can be advantageous to others, and appealed to social media users not to drag the unfortunate incident into communal lines based on emotion, so as not to infringe on the unity among the indigenous inhabitants of the state.
