FOCS Holds Press Briefing on May 27 Meeting with MHA

The Federation of Civil Society Organisations, Manipur (FOCS) held a press conference today at the Manipur Press Club to share details of its recent engagement with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

FOCS informed the media that a significant meeting was held on May 27 in New Delhi with senior MHA official A.K. Mishra. Unlike previous rounds of talks, this meeting involved separate discussions with different stakeholder groups, rather than a joint session.

During the briefing, FOCS highlighted that the meeting focused on the need for a united and coordinated approach to resolving the ongoing crisis in Manipur. The organisation stressed that pursuing separate or conflicting agendas would only complicate peace-building efforts.

FOCS also stated that while they could not disclose full details of the meeting due to its sensitive nature, the discussions included a review of the five-point memorandum submitted earlier to the MHA. Concerns were raised during the meeting regarding certain recent incidents, including the situation at Gwaltabi.

Reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful and inclusive resolution, FOCS called on all communities to continue dialogue and collaboration in the interest of restoring normalcy in the state.
