March 3, 2025: “Education empowers women by making them financially and emotionally independent,” emphasized Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S as Footgal 3.0, a 6-Girls-A-side night futsal tournament, kicked off in grand fashion at VRF Turf, Muolvaiphei. Organized by the District Administration of Churachandpur, the event marks the ten-year milestone of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, aiming to promote gender equality and opportunities for girls.
The opening ceremony, attended by a full-capacity crowd, was a vibrant affair with performances of the BBBP Anthem by local artists, a spectacular choreography display, and a pledge-taking event led by ADC Thangboi Gangte. SP Prakhar Pandey, district-level officers, and students were also present, showing their support for the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Dharun Kumar S underscored the need to encourage girls in various fields, including education, sports, arts, and socio-political engagement, for their holistic growth. He highlighted the role of education in empowering women, making them self-reliant both financially and emotionally.
In line with the government’s efforts for inclusive elections, the District Election Office conducted a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, guiding attendees on new voter registration, correction of details, EPIC replacement, and how to seek assistance regarding electoral processes.
The tournament’s opening match was officially kicked off by Dharun Kumar S. Featuring 22 teams, the competition will run until March 7, 2025, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and reinforcing the message of women’s empowerment through futsal.
