Forest Officials Conduct Drive Against Bird Trapping in Thoubal

Thoubal, 8 December 2025: As part of ongoing efforts to prevent bird hunting, the Thoubal Forest Range conducted a drive early Monday morning to seize bird traps in vulnerable areas of the division. The operation focused on Samaram Loukol and Tentha Ekop Pat, known hotspots for illegal bird trapping.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Leishangthem Jeeceelee, DFO of Thoubal Forest Division, and guided by Dineschandra Salam, Range Officer of Thoubal Forest Range. Forester Khangembam Deepak led the team on the ground, successfully confiscating several bird traps.

Forester Deepak urged the public to refrain from hunting or trapping birds and to report any such activity to the forest department. He warned that strict action will be taken against those found violating wildlife protection laws and expressed concern over the recurring discovery of fresh trapping nets during routine drives.

The forest authorities reiterated their commitment to protecting local bird populations and maintaining the ecological balance in the Thoubal Forest Range.
