March 16, 2026 (TBL): In a routine checking and enforcement operation in the Khongjom area, under the supervision of DFO Dr. Leishangthem Jeeceelee, a team from the Thoubal Range Office intercepted and seized a vehicle bearing registration number MN-01-7588 that was found transporting forest produce, including firewood and sawn timber.
Upon inspection, it was discovered that the vehicle was carrying the forest produce without a valid transit pass issued by the Forest Department, which is mandatory for the transportation of such materials.
The forest produce, along with the vehicle, was subsequently seized by the officials of the Thoubal Range Office for violating the provisions of the relevant forest laws and regulations. Further legal action is being initiated as per the applicable rules, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the forest produce and the individuals involved in the unauthorized transportation.
