March 3, 2025: Former CM N. Biren Singh and MLA Sapam Keba (Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh), both leaders, went into hiding and shut their doors to entry by a ‘Meira Paibi’ group, who arrived at their respective residences to talk and submit a memorandum.
The ‘Apunba Manipur Gi Emasing’ (United Mothers of Manipur) has expressed disappointment at this attitude, saying that their visit was to submit a memorandum demanding the formation of a popular government for the people, to facilitate the return of IDPs to their respective houses, and to block the continuous inflow of immigrants and illegal poppy plantations.
Speaking to the media, one Thongam Ongbi Inaocha said that when the group reached N. Biren Singh’s residence, they were told that he was there and asked to wait for some time. They waited at the gate. However, a team of commando vehicles arrived and informed them again that he (N. Biren) was not at his residence. Such an attitude is unacceptable for a leader. Similarly, they also went to Patsoi MLA Sapam Keba’s residence. They were asked to wait as the MLA was engaged with some work, and then a woman came out and told them to hand over the memo to her.
The womenfolk also questioned how many weapons from the hill district had been recovered so far by the security forces. Earlier, weeks before, the group also submitted a memo to BJP President A. Sharda and the Manipur Governor to form an elected government.
