Fourth Lanphou (Ramsom) Bungna Celebrated

The 4th Lanphou (Ramsom) Bungna was celebrated on Wednesday at Duhna Lon in Lamphou Charu village under Chandel district, which is about 15 km from the district headquarters.

Celebrated under the theme, “Celebrating Resilience and Fostering Unity”, the event was observed with the aim of bringing all the descendants of the Ramsom village together and fostering a sense of oneness and unity. Moreover, established in 1979, the Ramsom Bungna, which means “to come together”, has been a platform and occasion for those who have migrated to other places and villages to come together and celebrate their origin.

As part of the observation, 12 monoliths were unveiled, which included one for the Phethas (Heroes) of Ramsom, namely Koko Ruwngtol, Kolo Kanthuwn, Bera Sinruwng and Tothal Ruwngtol; the other 10 monoliths were inscribed with the clan names of Ruwngtol, Kanthuwn, Sinruwng, Bungsong, Lukhu, Rangang, Seltun, Wangshol, Ruwnglal and Tongsin.

The monoliths were blessed and dedicated by Rev. Fr. Augustine Ruwnglal, SDB, Principal of St. Joseph High School, Shajouba, while they were unveiled by Dr. Ss. Olish, MLA, 41-Chandel (ST) AC. Releasing of unity balloons followed the unveiling of the monoliths.

Kl. Warson, Principal In-charge, MUGHSS, Chandel, exegesised the theme of the day, “Celebrating Resilience and Fostering Unity”, and pointed out how resilience had been vital for the clans of Ramsom in surviving through the centuries. He also said resilience and unity had played a major role in their survival.

Dr. Bd. Thumdal, Principal (Retd.), United College, Chandel, and member of the souvenir committee, spoke on the origin and migration of the Lanphou (Ramsom). He noted how Ramsom had played a vital role in the history of the Anal Naga community.

Dr. Bs. Khelhring, Convenor, Souvenir Committee, spoke on the brief history of the Lanphou (Ramsom) Phethas and how they had played major roles in protecting the Anal Naga community from invaders. He said it was important that they were looked up to and respected. He also expressed his gratitude to the Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA) for accepting and inducting the four Phethas of Ramsom among the other Phethas of the Anal community.

Dr. Ss. Olish, MLA, 41-Chandel (ST) AC, as chief guest, expressed her joy and honour in being a part of such an event. She said such events were important, especially for those who have migrated to other villages and for the youths to learn about their history.

The event also saw various cultural activities such as cultural dance by Lambung Youth and Cultural Club, cultural choreography by Phetha Production Team, Lamphoupasna and Ws. Ruwngshung, among others.

Earlier, Ruwnglar Elly, Convenor, LOC, introduced the VIPs, while Rng. Belen, President, Ramsom Bungna, and Rt. Bechung, chief of the host village, also addressed the event.
