As part of the 44th World TB Day observance, the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC), under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), organized a district-level programme at the DRDA Conference Hall in Senapati today under the theme “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver.”
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. L. Muanching announced that advanced diagnostic tools such as NAAT molecular tests, Truenat machines, and digital X-ray facilities are available free of cost in Senapati for TB detection. She highlighted the district’s progress in reducing TB incidence and death rates and credited collective efforts from political leaders, government officials, NGOs, and volunteers at the grassroots level.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sumpi Percy, while delivering the keynote speech, emphasized the importance of a strong immune system in TB prevention, especially for diabetic patients and individuals with habits such as tobacco use and alcohol consumption. She applauded the efforts of the DTC team in fighting TB in the district.
Dr. S. Losica RK, MOTC, presented a detailed PowerPoint on TB awareness and the district’s response strategies. TB Champion Kh. Danii shared his personal journey of surviving TB and the importance of timely treatment.
As a gesture of appreciation, mementoes and certificates were distributed to six Nikshay Mitras, ten TB Warriors, and 327 volunteers for their contributions. Additionally, ten food baskets were handed over to TB patients.
The event saw the presence of ADC Senapati CEO Adahrii Maheo, district-level officers, medical staff, CSOs, and youth volunteers.
