Free Health Check-up Camp for Drivers Held at District Hospital Bishnupur

Jan. 29, 2025 : one-day free health check-up camp for public transport drivers was held today at District Hospital Bishnupur as part of the 36th National Road Safety Month, 2025.

The initiative, aimed at promoting the health and well-being of public transport drivers, was organized jointly by the District Transport Office, Bishnupur, and the Chief Medical Office, Bishnupur.

The health camp primarily focused on eye and ENT (ear, nose, and throat) screenings, which are crucial for the safety of drivers on the road. Around 50 public transport drivers from the district participated in the camp, where six experienced doctors conducted comprehensive health check-ups.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Transport Officer emphasized the importance of addressing health concerns for public transport drivers, particularly vision and hearing, as these are vital for road safety.

Apart from the health check-up camp, the District Transport Office has been actively observing Road Safety Month with various awareness activities. These include routine checks for traffic rule violations and public awareness campaigns at key locations across the district, including Nambol, Bishnupur, Ningthoukhong, Moirang, and Kumbi.

Earlier, the office also organized a painting and quiz competition at the Panchayat Resource Centre, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur, in collaboration with the ZEO Office, Bishnupur. The competition aimed to spread road safety awareness among students, and the winners were felicitated by the Deputy Commissioner during the Republic Day celebrations.

The District Transport Office, Bishnupur, remains committed to ensuring road safety and compliance with traffic regulations across the district. Through various initiatives and awareness campaigns, the office aims to reduce road accidents and promote safe driving practices.
