As part of the observance of World Hepatitis Day 2025, the District Health Society, Thoubal, successfully organised a one-day Free Screening and Awareness Programme on Viral Hepatitis at Real Recovery Home, Thoubal College Road, on Thursday.
The event was graced by Dr. Y. Nokul Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal; Dr. R.K. Kamala Devi, District Nodal Officer, NVHCP; Ch. Basanta Singh, District Programme Manager, District Health Society, Thoubal; and Ak. Herojit Singh, Founder, Real Recovery Home, as Chief Guest, President, and Guests of Honour respectively.
In her keynote address, Dr. R.K. Kamala Devi highlighted the importance of early testing, diagnosis, and treatment of viral hepatitis. She also explained the various services available under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NVHCP).
Dr. Y. Nokul Singh stressed the significance of Hepatitis B vaccination among high-risk groups as well as the general public. Ch. Basanta Singh spoke on the role of life skills, behavioural change communication, and awareness in combating the disease.
The programme concluded with a free screening camp, where nearly 50 participants were tested for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and other routine health examinations.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and promote early detection and prevention measures among the local population.
