158 petrol and diesel tankers, 5 ATF tankers and 29 LPG carriers en route amid highway disruptions
Imphal, 30th August: Following the review on 29th August by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Manipur’s depleting petroleum and LPG stocks, a special convoy was arranged to ensure timely replenishment of supplies. The disruption was caused by frequent landslides along NH-2 and NH-37, the state’s two crucial lifelines.
The CAF&PD Department, in close coordination with the state police and Indian Oil Corporation, dispatched the convoy from Jiribam in the early hours of 30th August. It comprises 158 tankers of petrol and diesel, 5 tankers of aviation turbine fuel, and 29 LPG tankers. The vehicles are expected to reach Imphal within two to three days.
The state government has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to maintain adequate fuel availability for domestic and commercial needs across Manipur.
