Feb 20, 2025: After a closed-door meeting of some BJP MLAs held at ‘Thambal Sanglen’ this afternoon, attended by its party president A. Sharda Devi, former Minister Yumnam Khemchand hinted at the likely formation of a new government, and a date will be decided for a joint BJP legislature meet-up soon by the party.
“Since the resignation of our former CM, our MLAs have not had any joint MLAs meetings together, like earlier when they used to be held, headed by the legislature leader. A date will be decided soon for the meeting, and then we will discuss the formation of a new government,” stated Y. Khemchand to media persons post-meeting.
Khemchand also highlighted that the purpose of their visit today was to inform the BJP President about the need for a legislative meeting to unify the party members.
Later, BJP MLAs Tongbram Robindro of Thanga AC and Th. Shyamkumar of Andro AC also joined the gathering, further fueling speculation about the shifting political landscape in Manipur.
