March 11, 2025 : In a sharp critique during the Lok Sabha session today, Sub-leader MP Gaurav Gogoi demanded clarity from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur and the current status of the Manipur Assembly.
Reflecting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier statement that peace would return to Manipur “very soon,” Gogoi questioned why President’s Rule was imposed despite the passing of 21 months.
He pointed out the lack of action from the central government, with no visits from either the Prime Minister or the Home Minister to the state.
Gogoi pressed Amit Shah to take moral responsibility for the decision and provide transparency on the political situation in Manipur, particularly regarding the functioning of the Manipur Assembly.
He expressed concern over the government’s failure to resolve the unrest, emphasizing that peace cannot be achieved solely through force or police patrolling. Instead, he called for active engagement with the people of Manipur, asserting that true peace could only come by listening to their concerns.
