Gender Sensitisation Awareness Programme Conducted at Kakching

An Awareness Programme on Gender Sensitisation was organized on Thursday at Anand Singh Yoga and Nature Cure Research Hospital, Kakching Chumnang Leikai Machin Manao Chinglak. The event was held under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, as part of the “Sankalp: HEW (Hub for Empowerment of Women)” initiative.

The special awareness campaign, which began on September 2, will continue until September 12. The programme was a collaborative effort involving multiple organizations, including the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), ICDS Cell Kakching, One Stop Centre Kakching, Shakti Sadan Home Kakching (run by the Society for Urban and Rural Upliftment – SURU Kakching), Public Yoga and Nature Cure Association (PYNCA) Kakching, Southern Manipur Rural Technology Service Institute (SMART) Kakching, and the Centre for Rural Upliftment Service (CRUS) Pallel.

Naorem Kumari Devi, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Kakching, attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Ningthoujam Parango, District Programme Officer – Child Development Project Officer Kakching, presided over the event. Irom Rashitombi, Central Administrator of One Stop Centre Kakching, and Salam Rameshwar, Project Coordinator of Healing Point – IRCA Kakching, were present as Guests of Honour.

The programme saw participation from women across various localities of Kakching district. Naorem Kumari Devi delivered a talk emphasizing the importance of gender sensitisation, while Irom Rashitombi spoke on the services offered by the One Stop Centre for women, acting as a resource person during the session.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about gender issues and empower women through education, dialogue, and access to essential services, reinforcing the collaborative efforts of multiple local and government organizations.
