A ‘ghost water supply’ under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) has sparked outrage in Moirangpurel after the official JJM dashboard claimed that 322 households have been provided tap water, even though not a single home in the village receives any supply. Residents described it as a scheme that flows “only on paper, not in our pipes.”
The Moirangpurel Village Development Committee (MVDC) stated that no household tap connection has been seen in the village till date, yet the dashboard shows 322 covered. The Committee called it a fraudulent implementation and demanded immediate punishment of those responsible.
The MVDC, along with local residents, has issued a deadline till December 10, urging concerned authorities to visit the village, conduct a proper survey and take action against officials or contractors involved. If the demand is ignored, villagers warned of launching an intense agitation to expose and protest the corruption.
