On September 16 and 17, during the Bharat Golf Mahotsava held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, to mark the birthday celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mayanglambam Rohind secured the Runner-up position in the Gross category and emerged as the Winner in the Group category. For this achievement, people from his hometown Kakching warmly welcomed him.
After arriving at the airport, Rohind was received and given a grand welcome at his residence by Uyok Chingya Club, Kakching, along with Kakching Turel Wangma Club members. Speaking at the occasion, Rohind expressed that since childhood he had always been passionate about golf and determined to pursue it as a career. He also mentioned that he has already participated in several national-level competitions. However, due to academic commitments and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, there had been some setbacks in his sporting journey.
Nonetheless, he stated that with full dedication, he is now determined to win a national gold medal and work toward becoming a professional golfer, making a mark at the global level.
Moirangthem Deepak, a senior member of Uyok Chingya Club, also praised Rohind, saying that he has become a shining example for the youth by excelling in golf, and the club as a whole takes pride in his success.
It may be noted that Mayanglambam Rohind hails from Kakching Turel Wangma Club area, Ward No. 5, and is the youngest son of Army Retired Colonel Mayanglambam Bishwamdas and Mayanglambam Minakumari.
