Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Chairs Review Meeting on Jiribam–Imphal Railway Project

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla inaugurated the State Level Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 at Raj Bhavan, Imphal today. The campaign, organised by the National Health Mission in association with the Directorate of Health Services under the National Tobacco Control Program, began with participants taking a pledge to abstain from the use of tobacco products.

Commissioner (Health) Sumant Singh, along with Directors of Family Welfare and IPR, attended the ceremony. Officers from Social Welfare, Information Technology, Home, and Police departments were also present.

The 60-day campaign aims to achieve six key objectives: raise public awareness on the harmful effects of tobacco, enhance compliance of Tobacco Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI), promote Tobacco Free Villages, strengthen enforcement of the COTPA 2003 and PECA 2019, amplify social media engagement, and build capacity.

Governor Bhalla directed officers to ensure the campaign is executed seriously and consistently, emphasizing its role in eliminating tobacco use and safeguarding the youth. He called on officials to contribute their best efforts to make the initiative effective and successful, which will be replicated across all districts of the state.
