Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Graces World Red Cross Day Observation in Imphal

Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, attended the closing function of the month-long World Red Cross Day 2025 observation held at the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Manipur State Branch office at M.G. Avenue, Imphal.

As part of the event, the Governor paid tribute to the Red Cross founder, Henry Dunant, remembering his legacy as a pioneering humanitarian and the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Certificates were distributed to newly enrolled Patron and Vice Patron members of the IRCS. He also presented appreciation certificates and prizes to donors of cash awards and winners of various competitions, including recitation, written quiz, painting, ex-tempore speech, and folk song contests held during the observation period.

In his address, the Governor congratulated the awardees and newly appointed Patrons, while reflecting on the ideals of the Red Cross and the timeless contributions of Henry Dunant. He praised the IRCS for its vital role in Manipur during natural disasters, pandemics, and for extending support to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across both the hills and valley regions.

He acknowledged the organisation’s continued efforts in disaster preparedness and humanitarian services, urging greater youth participation in such noble initiatives. The Governor assured that Raj Bhavan and the Government of Manipur would continue to support the Indian Red Cross Society in its humanitarian mission.
