Manipur is all set to open the Imphal Chapter of Asia’s oldest football tournament, the Durand Cup 2025, and the Governor of Manipur, A.K. Bhalla, today formally received and showcased the Cup Trophy at City Convention, Imphal, after the ceremonial flag-off tour from Manipur’s picturesque Sendra by Olympic medalist and Padma Shri awardee Saikhom Mirabai Chanu.
The Imphal Chapter will open on July 30, and this is the second time Manipur is being a host state for the matches of the historic tournament, further cementing its place as a vital hub in Indian football.
The event at City Convention was also joined by Manipur Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh, senior Army officials, and celebrated weightlifter and Olympic medalist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, whose presence added weight to the occasion.
In the Imphal Chapter, Group F matches will feature TRAU FC, NEROCA FC, Indian Navy FT, and Real Kashmir FC, scheduled at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium on July 30 and August 1, 4, 7, 10, and 12, respectively, at 4:00 PM.
