Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Visits Andro, Emphasizes Culture and Education

Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, accompanied by First Lady Jyoti Bhalla, visited Andro in Imphal East district to connect with the area’s cultural traditions and understand local concerns.

The visit began at Sanapokpa Andro Panam Ningthou Meihoubirol, where the Governor and First Lady offered prayers at the sacred fireplace believed to have been burning for centuries. Temple priests briefed them on the spiritual significance of the site, while the temple committee submitted a memorandum outlining challenges in education, healthcare, transportation, and essential services.

The Governor also witnessed Andro’s age-old rice wine-making process, an integral part of its heritage, and later visited the Common Facilitation Centre for Pottery and Terracotta Crafts, where he observed indigenous pottery works that highlight the community’s craftsmanship. At Santhei Natural Park, the couple appreciated the natural beauty and eco-tourism potential of the region.

Concluding the visit, the Governor and First Lady interacted with students and teachers at Saraswati Bal Vidya Mandir, Andro. To support learning infrastructure, they donated a computer system, desks, benches, and an interactive flat-panel smart classroom display.

The visit underlined the Governor’s emphasis on preserving cultural heritage while also addressing community needs and strengthening educational opportunities for local youth.
