In a solemn and historic ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, felicitated gallantry award winners and presented cash awards to them and to the next of kin of battle casualties from the state. The event marked the first-ever state-level felicitation dedicated to honouring soldiers from Manipur for their distinguished service and bravery.
A total of 18 personnel, including battle casualties, were recognised for their exceptional acts of courage and devotion to duty. The awardees include:
Shaurya Chakra: Major Maneo Francis PF (PARA SF), Subedar P. Prabin Singha (Artillery)
Vir Chakra: Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik (IAF), Constable (L) Deepak Chingakham (BSF)
Sena Medal: Lt Col K. Bijayendra Sharma (Army Aviation Squadron – UH), Lt Col Mutum Ajoy Meitei (Ladakh Scouts), Maj S. Maningba Rangnamei (Bihar Regiment), Maj Sougrakpam Rishikesh Singh (Engineers), Lt Col Kh. Shem (JAT), Maj Lalngaisang Vaiphei (ECIB), Maj Sushrujen Pangeijam (Assam Rifles), Maj Irengbam Vishal (JAK RIF), Hav Prakash Chhetri (PARA SF), and Naik L. Machinmi (PARA SF)

Addressing the gathering, the Governor paid tribute to the indomitable spirit of the soldiers of Manipur, noting that the state has produced countless bravehearts who have served with distinction — from the icy heights of Siachen and Kargil to peacekeeping missions across the world.
He cited the success of recent operations, including Operation Sindoor, as evidence of India’s growing defence capability and strategic strength. While reiterating India’s commitment to peace, the Governor said the nation stands firm in defending its sovereignty with courage and resolve.
Reflecting on the country’s proud military legacy, Bhalla described the stories of gallantry and sacrifice as living testaments to the spirit that safeguards India’s freedom. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the families of martyred soldiers for their strength, patience, and enduring sacrifice.
The Governor congratulated all the award recipients and honoured the memory of the martyrs whose courage continues to inspire generations to uphold the ideals of service and sacrifice.
