Governor Launches ‘Addiction Free Manipur Campaign’ at Raj Bhavan

Feb 3, 2025: In a bid to address the pressing issue of drug abuse and addiction in Manipur, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The occasion marked the launch of the ‘Addiction Free Manipur Campaign’ at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, organized by Brahma Kumaris in partnership with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The campaign aims to combat substance abuse through extensive awareness campaigns, mass mobilization, and community outreach, targeting both vulnerable groups and the general populace across the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Bhalla highlighted the national scope of the initiative under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, covering 372 districts across India to curb drug abuse effectively.

He commended Brahma Kumaris for their proactive role and dedication towards making India a drug-free nation. He urged the youth and all citizens to support the movement and contribute to the vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047.

The launch ceremony at Raj Bhavan, attended by dignitaries including Dr. Banarsilal Shah from the Medical Wing, Mt. Abu, Rajasthan, Dr. Swapan Gupta from GB Pant Institute, New Delhi, Prof. RK Lenin Singh from the Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch, and BK Nilima, In-charge of Brahma Kumaris, Manipur, marked a significant step forward in the fight against substance abuse in Manipur.
