Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla today attended the observance of Kargil Vijay Diwas at the Palace Auditorium, MSFDS, Palace Compound, Imphal.
In his address, the Governor highlighted the profound significance of the day, marking 26 years since India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War. He emphasized that the occasion serves as a solemn tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces who laid down their lives defending the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Governor said Kargil Vijay Diwas is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by the armed forces in the face of external aggression. He lauded the courage, determination, and unwavering spirit displayed by Indian soldiers in the harsh conditions of the Kargil mountains, describing them as a lasting symbol of patriotism and valour.
He also stressed the importance of preserving and passing on the legacy of Kargil to future generations so that stories of heroism and sacrifice continue to inspire the nation. The day, he added, reinforces the values of unity, resilience, and national pride.
During the event, the Governor honoured seven brave soldiers from Manipur who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Kargil War, acknowledging their contribution as a source of pride for the state and the nation.
Director General of Police Rajiv Singh presided over the observance as President of the event. The function was attended by senior administrative, police, and military officers, along with armed forces personnel and veterans from Manipur who served in the Kargil War.
