The Manipur government has announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of deceased BSF constable Deepak Chingakham, who was martyred while safeguarding the country at Kharkhola Border Outpost on May 10 last.
The 25-year-old martyr hailed from Yairipok Yambem in Imphal East district. His mortal remains will be brought to Imphal Airport on Tuesday, and a wreath-laying ceremony will be held in the presence of state dignitaries.
The said ex gratia amount will be provided under the Major Laishram Jyotin Singh Ashok Chakra (P) scheme for martyrs and their families, a Raj Bhavan statement informed.
Constable (General Duty) Deepak Chingakham of the 7th Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF), laid down his life following a drone attack launched from Pakistan at the Kharkhola Border Outpost (BOP) on May 10.
