In a recent announcement, Union Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri disclosed that the price of domestic LPG cylinders has been elevated by Rs 50 per cylinder. This adjustment affects both subsidised and general category consumers.
According to Puri, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder will now rise from Rs 500 to Rs 550 for Ujjwala beneficiaries and from Rs 803 to Rs 853 for non-Ujjwala users.
Additionally, the government has decided to enhance excise duties on petrol and diesel. Effective from April 8, 2025, the excise duty on petrol will increase to Rs 13 per litre, and on diesel to Rs 10 per litre. This change, as per official sources, will be absorbed by oil marketing companies without passing the burden onto consumers.
Earlier last week, commercial LPG cylinder prices experienced a reduction by Rs 41, impacting businesses such as restaurants and hotels reliant on these cylinders for daily operations.
