The State Forest Department has now prohibited any kind of trespassing in the Langol Reserved Forest areas in general, and the Punsilok area in particular. Activities that are prohibited include camping, expeditions, trekking, etc.
Detection of such activities in any of the Reserved Forests mentioned above is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with a fine or both under the Indian Forest Act, 1927. The Range Officers and staff are instructed to conduct regular patrolling and keep strict vigil against such acts of illegal trespass and take appropriate action according to the Indian Forest Act, 1927, and the Manipur Forest Rules, 2021.
Orders have also been issued by the DFO, Central Forest Division – Government of Manipur, prohibiting trespassing inside Reserved Forest areas as it disturbs the ecological balance and endangers wildlife, violating the provisions of the Indian Forest Act, 1927, and relevant rules.
All individuals or organizations are asked to refrain from indulging in any of the above activities without permission from the competent authorities.
