8 March 2025: Opposing the Union Home Minister’s free movement without obstruction on roads, including national highways, a large number of people from the Kuki tribe gathered in Kangpokpi and took to the streets to obstruct any such initiatives until their demands are fulfilled.
The FOCS, the valley-based CSO that set off a peace tour this morning from Imphal to Senapati, has reached Sekmai Yaiphakol, bordering Kangpokpi district, and many people from the area came out onto the streets to cheer the tour participants. However, they have now been halted at Sekmai Yaiphakol by central security forces from proceeding further.
