Govt to Give Rs 84 Per-Person Daily Cash Relief to IDPs From Nov 1, Ending All In-Kind Aid

In an overhaul of the relief system for internally displaced persons (IDPs), the Manipur Government has announced that all in-kind distribution of essentials in relief camps will cease from October 31, with monetary assistance to be provided only through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from November 1.

Officials said the shift aims to bring greater transparency, efficiency, and accountability to IDP support more than two years into the ongoing crisis.

The Home Department stated in a fresh Office Memorandum that IDPs will henceforth receive Rs 84 per person per day, credited directly into the bank account of the head of each family, replacing the long-standing supply of rice, dal, water, and other consumables.

District administrations have been instructed to digitise beneficiary lists, collect bank details, and ensure no eligible IDP is left out during the transition.
