March 5, 2025: In a crackdown on underground activities, Manipur Police seized a cache of explosives, including 10 No. 36 hand grenades and 10 launching tubes, during the arrest of an active member of the proscribed KCP(MFL).
The accused, identified as Yumnam Suresh Meitei alias Thoungamba Mangang alias Poirei Mangang (28), was apprehended near Old Modern College Gate on Porompat Ayangpalli Road under Porompat Police Station, Imphal-East District.
Police suspect the arrested individual was actively involved in extortion targeting the general public, private firms, and government officials.
Along with the explosives, the police recovered a two-wheeler, an iron ammunition box, three mobile phones, a wallet, and a blue sack bag.
