Guru Nanak Gurpurab, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was observed at the Gurdwara in Imphal on Wednesday.
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla attended the occasion, where he joined the Ardas, offered his respects, and interacted with members of the Sikh community. The Governor conveyed greetings on the observance and visited the Guru Ka Langar section, appreciating the spirit of equality, service, and communal harmony. He also acknowledged the contribution of the Sikh community in promoting social unity and humanitarian values in the state.
Speaking to the media, the President of the Gurdwara Management Committee said,
“Today we are observing the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. On this occasion, I convey my greetings to the people of Manipur and pray for peace and harmony in the state.”
He highlighted Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of one God, honest living, meditation, and sharing with the needy. He also mentioned historical references suggesting that Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited Imphal around 1509–1510 during the reign of King Koiremba, encouraging further research into archival records.
