March 2, 2025: Manipur witnessed a mild hailstorm in some areas post-midnight at around 1:20 am this morning. The hailstorm in some parts of Thoubal district affected the roofs of some houses and vegetable gardens, mainly at Yairipok Kekru, Khoirom, and Yairipok Bamol Leikai under Wangkhem Assembly Constituency, according to reports here.
The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 26.3°C, and the minimum was 12.3°C. Today may be partly cloudy, with a possible thunderstorm and winds from the west at 15 to 25 km per hour, with chances of rain, according to weather reports.
Mention may be made here that the previous year, on May 5, Manipur experienced a severe hailstorm all over the state that lasted for 15 minutes, starting from 1:30 pm, resulting in significant damage to houses, property, infrastructure, and crops, the killing of birds, injuries to animals, and even uprooted trees in the Imphal Valley.
