MARCH 5, 2026 (IMP): One hand grenade with safety pin intact was found on Thursday at around 10.30 am lying in front of a garden near a fence by one Kakchingtabam Rameshwor (48), son of (late) K. Nabachandra Sharma, a resident of Awang Leikinthabi Awang Leikai, PS-Awang Sekmai, Imphal West district, while he was cutting firewood.
According to police sources, the garden belongs to one Leihaorungbam Ramananda (47), son of L. Amuyaima of Awang Leikinthabi Awang Leikai of the same PS and district.
The hand grenade seems to have been lying there for a long time, the source added.
A team of Sekmai PS personnel has arrived at the spot and taken up the necessary action, the source added.
