8 March 2025: A group of masked, unidentified Kuki militants with sophisticated weapons in combat fatigue, who identified themselves as ‘Village Volunteers Eastern Zone’ (VV Eastern Zone), has issued threat messages against free movement without obstructions in Kuki-inhabited areas.
“There will be no free movement in Kuki-Zo before the establishment of a separate administration or Union Territory with a legislature,” stated one of the VV Eastern Zone members while reading out a written statement.
The videos have now raised several questions about the Union Home Minister’s push for obstruction-free movement and the governor’s efforts to surrender illegally held weapons for the restoration of peace in the conflict-torn state.
