Feb. 13, 2015: Security has been tightened in the state capital following the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur.
The move comes in the wake of a political vacuum created by the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh four days ago.
As a result, the central government has taken over the administration, with key state functions now under the purview of the President.
In response to the development, central security forces have been deployed in large numbers at critical locations across Imphal.
Areas like Kangla Gate, VIP quarters, residences, and key junctions have witnessed a heavy security presence to maintain law and order.
The deployment is seen as an aim to prevent any untoward incidents during this politically sensitive period and to reassure citizens amidst rising concerns over governance and safety.
