The students of Heirok Higher Secondary School in Thoubal district, on Saturday, staged a protest within the school campus demanding the appointment of their regular principal and vice-principal at the earliest.
The angry students locked down the school gate and set fire to furniture like desks, benches, and others at the school gate.
One protestor, Ningthoujam Paikhomba, a Class XI student, stated that their school has been functioning without a regular principal and vice-principal for months. This has led to disruptions in academic activities to a great extent. They have submitted several memorandums to the authorities concerned, but no positive response has come so far. This has added salt to the woes of the students, he exclaimed with anger.
Moreover, he added that there is no Home Science teacher in the school. He asked how they will study without a teacher. He also warned that more severe agitations will be taken up if the authorities concerned don’t lend their ears.
