A helicopter operated by Aryan Aviation crashed near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag District today early morning, claiming the lives of all seven individuals on board, including passengers and crew.
The incident comes just days after the devastating Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad, which resulted in the loss of 241 lives onboard, with only one survivor.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have initiated investigations into the helicopter crash, attributing the accident to adverse weather conditions during a routine flight from Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi.
In response, helicopter operations to Char Dham have been temporarily reduced as a precautionary measure, with enhanced surveillance and operational reviews underway.
Rescue operations led by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are currently ongoing at the crash site near Gaurikund, amidst challenging weather conditions and ongoing relief efforts in the valley.
District authorities, including the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), are on their way to the scene to coordinate further response efforts.
