Border villages of Champhai district of Mizoram are increasingly becoming a new hotbed of drug trafficking in the region. Assam Rifles once again seized a massive consignment of narcotics worth over ₹40 crore from the Melbuk area near Zokhawthar on Friday.
The contraband items include 1.041 kg of Heroin No. 4 and 9.381 kg of methamphetamine tablets, and the items were found hidden in the remote zone of the Champhai district of Mizoram. The operation was carried out while acting on an intelligence input.
All recovered items have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for legal action and deeper investigation.
