March 24, 2025: A four-hour-long joint search operation conducted this morning by the 4 MAHAR Regiment, a dog squad, and Yaingangpokpi Police led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition in Seijang Leiching, Imphal East.
The operation, launched at 6 AM based on specific intelligence inputs regarding hidden weapons, concluded at 10:15 AM.
During the search, security forces discovered the weapons concealed inside a sack buried underground.
Upon unearthing the cache, authorities seized a variety of firearms, explosives, and ammunition, including a .22 rifle, four 51 mm mortars, a 9mm pistol, eight 36-hand grenades, a 12-bore double-barrel rifle, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), five stun grenades, ten tear smoke grenades, and a tear chilli grenade.
Additionally, they recovered a Baofeng radio with a charger, four tube launchers, two 12-bore cartridges, ten 9mm bullets, and sixty 7.62 mm rounds.
Following the operation, the recovered weapons were displayed before the media at Yaingangpokpi Police Station. The police have registered a case and launched further investigations.
