High Court of Manipur Celebrates 12th Anniversary

March 23, 2025: The High Court of Manipur marked its 12th anniversary with a grand celebration at the High Court Complex. A Supreme Court delegation led by Justice Bhushan R. Gavai attended the event, along with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Justice D. Krishnakumar. The celebration featured the unveiling of a commemorative souvenir, a documentary showcasing the transformative journey of Manipur’s judiciary, the inauguration and foundation stone laying of new court buildings and other judicial projects, and a cultural program.

As part of their visit, the Supreme Court delegation, including Justices Surya Kant, Vikram Nath, M.M. Sundresh, K.V. Viswanathan, and N. Kotiswar Singh, also assessed ongoing legal aid initiatives and efforts to restore peace in the state. A day earlier, the team visited relief camps, interacted with internally displaced persons (IDPs), and reviewed legal aid services aimed at assisting affected families in reclaiming essential documents, securing government assistance, and accessing justice.

NALSA Executive Chairman Justice Gavai inaugurated legal aid clinics in Imphal East, Imphal West, and Ukhrul, reinforcing the judiciary’s role in supporting vulnerable communities. Additionally, medical camps were set up to provide health check-ups and treatment for displaced individuals.

The visit underscores the judiciary’s commitment to strengthening legal access, humanitarian aid, and fostering peace in Manipur. The Supreme Court delegation’s engagement highlights ongoing efforts to ensure justice, rehabilitation, and stability in the state.
