Continuing its mission to foster peace and inclusive development, the Assam Rifles organized a comprehensive Civil-Military Liaison and Coordination Meeting today at the Kakching Garrison. The forum brought together a total of 27 key stakeholders, comprising senior officials of Assam Rifles and civil administration, alongside law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
The high-level interaction included District Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from Kakching and Chandel, as well as officials from the offices of Thoubal and Tengnoupal. Representatives from the NIA, State Intelligence Bureau, Special Bureau, Narcotics and Customs Departments, and Divisional Forest Officers also participated. This diverse assembly, chaired by the Senior Officer of Assam Rifles, provided a constructive platform for open dialogue and collaborative planning aimed at the long-term socio-economic progress of the four districts.
Discussions prioritised real-time intelligence sharing and improved operational synergy to address the prevailing internal security situation across the valleys and hills. Significant focus was placed on the Indo-Myanmar border, particularly regarding post-election activities in the neighbouring country, illegal movement of drugs and timber, and the smuggling of war-like stores. Critical administrative issues were also addressed, including the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons in Kakching and Chandel, land acquisition, and the progress of border fencing along the international boundary.
Vowing strict action against anti-national elements through synchronised counter-insurgency and anti-contraband drives, the participants reaffirmed their commitment to sustained peace. The meeting concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the bond between security forces and the civil administration to ensure a stable and prosperous future for the region.
