Thoubal, Dec 02 — At around 8 pm on Tuesday, a 60-year-old man died in a hit-and-run incident along the National Highway 102 Imphal–Moreh road stretch at Thoubal Babu Market under Thoubal Police Station. A vehicle coming at high speed hit him and fled the scene.
The deceased elderly man has been identified as Soibam Kesho, aged 60, son of late Gokul, from Thoubal Kiyam Wangmataba. According to reports, eyewitnesses stated that the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was a Bolero. Police have registered a case regarding the incident and investigation is underway.
On the other hand, at around 4 pm on Tuesday itself, a Tata 407 truck (MN05C 1257) hit a 6-year-old boy at Kairembikhok Chingdum area under Thoubal Police Station. The boy died at the spot.
The deceased child has been identified as Nongthombam Nungsithoiba, son of Joi, from Keirambikhok Mamang Leikai. Police have seized the vehicle involved.
